Nicholas Johnson is Managing Partner at Applico, where he works directly with Fortune 500 C-Suites and Boards to help them scale platform businesses. He also oversees the company’s research into platforms, including the launch of Applico’s Platform Insights, which was licensed by Wisdom Tree to create PLAT, the first ETF for platform businesses as an asset class.  He is the co-author of Applico’s Amazon-best seller Modern Monopolies, and he has been featured in the Financial Times, Bloomberg, CNN, CBS, Reuters, USA Today, Buzzfeed, Rolling Stone, GQ, Fortune, South China Morning Post, Good Morning America, and Teen Vogue, among many others. He writes regularly for outlets like the Financial Times, Inc., Business Insider, and TechCrunch.

Prior to joining Applico, he spent several years as an editor at the Institute for New Economic Thinking. There he developed a knack for breaking down complex concepts and ideas from highly specialized disciplines and explaining them in plain English. He worked closely with the Institute’s leadership, including several Nobel Prize winners.

Outside of work, Nick became the world’s first Pokémon master. Sponsored by Marriott Rewards and Expedia, he traveled the world and became the first person to catch all the Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
